home is where your heart is

this time coming back to china to visit made me see my world in a different light. i've lived in the US since 1996 and yet somewhere inside of me, i've always thought one day i will move back to china, because that's where my home is. my parents live in the states with me, but everyone else, my aunts, uncles and cousins are here. i hated every thanksgiving and christmas, i usually have no where to go. i'm the kid that you brought home on a thanksgiving night, hahaha.. its been so long, im used to the whole situation, but i've always longed for a big family.
10 yrs ago, my cousins are my age and we went out to the bars and clubs after dinner and went shopping during day. 10 yrs after, they are all married with kids. no one to take me around to anywhere. my friends moved to different cities. everyone's busy with their own life. i guess in some way, i've been like that, they always see me as the busy bee, busy with school, busy with work, busy traveling, busy not having time visiting them.
family isn't what it used to be either. aunts and uncles don't get along. cousins dont get along. it's hard to put together a family union. it's almost comical to me. they have something so precious, yet they take it for granted as if it was given to them. being in a foreign country all by myself made me realize how much family means or don't mean, hahah. brothers and sisters can hate each other and not see each other. it's something i will never know and forever wonder.
a home, a family... my search continues...

HONG KONG TOMORROW!! YIPPIE!! can't wait to haul some MM and JS. omg, i have to show you guys what i got in shanghai BARBIE SPA! it was soo magical. i wish they had one in the US. i got my nails done in a barbie pink and bought a bunch of stuff. contest time soon! gotta appreciate my readers out there following this slow ass blog, hahaha...

I know what you mean! I've lived in the UK since 1996, and whenever I go to the States, it's like being in a foreign country!

For my parents and brother, it's "out of sight, out of mind"!

I still see my best friend in California and my other best friend from Seattle, who now lives in Phoenix, though, and it feels like yesterday when I'm with them.

definitely me in college. and when i was growing up, my family rarely went to family gatherings. i always wondered why we were so different from other families, haha.

It's always weird when your cousins spin off their own little families , I feel guilty for demanding attention yet strangely competitive!

Places in HK:
- Island Beverly Center (right next to Sogo, Causeway Bay). There's a make-up shop on one of the levels that sells random Japanese stuff.
- Area next to City Super, Times Square. Again, random Japanese make-up!

i feel for you. although most of my relatives are here, there's always this separation during family dinners. i don't talk to my close cousins cuz they're like 10 years younger than me. those that are my age..we just don't have much to talk about. it sucks bum..but forget about it for now and have fun shopping!!!

i'm sure the weather boiling by now, but if you fancy a walk in a park. they're gorgeeous!! i definitely recommend you to go to Kowloon Park. it's at TST station..somewhere on the map you should see it. it's right next to a mosque. there's a small aviary in it too.
and you should go to admiralty station to go to hong kong park. there should be signs in the mall since one of the entrances leds to the park. if not, you could always walk around that mall, it's super fancy shmancy HE stuff.
i think you can pretty much get the makeup you're looking for anywhere...esp if you go to the Faces store. there's an outlet at tung chung station!
hope you have funn!!!
