Winter Look

While I was visiting Boston for Thanksgiving, I wore makeup everyday, except for the last day because we had to drive back and there is no point in wearing makeup if no body is gonna see it. well, thats how i think anyways. So here are 2 looks I sported.


Holiday Red

You know what I wish I could remember everything I used, but I am not a beauty blogger, therefore, here is what I remember I used...


Eyes :
YSL concealor (that gold pen thingy, in #2)
Chanel quad (one of the goldish color)
MAC fluidline in Blitz & Glitz
4 different types of mascara (Clinque 24/7 as the last one for waterproof)


Lips:
MAC lipglass in Red Romp (alone, no liner, no lippie)

Face:
Perscriptive Protective Concealor in Warm 03 (my HG)
MAC MSF natural in Medium
MAC beauty powder compact (some peachy color)
MAC blush in Pink Swoon


(i suck at remembering the names of everything i used and i am way too lazy to get up and look up every single color.. next time, i promise to be better at this)

The forgotten beauty

As a self-proclaimed beauty junkie, I've seen and testsed and sniffed almost every single product made available to man kind. The competitive nature of the beauty industry pressures companies to always stay on top of their game by pushing out new brands and images. Let's face it, beauty product probably has 300% profit margin, most of their costs probably go to R&D and marketing. Let's not forget the pretty packages and celebrity endorsements. Beauty brand come and go like seasons, some are hits and some are misses. But I'm sure for every girl out there, there must be a brand or a product that just WORKED. There must be times when you found out it's being discountiued and wanted to dash out the door to grab the last few you can find. Maybe the brand wasn't popular, maybe it's just not popular in this country.. But it was the only thing you could fall back on when all new beauty products fails.

And for me.. the forgotten beauty is Biotherm. Everything they had to offer worked great on my skin. It really is non-oily and moistourizing at the same time. I have weird skin. The drier my skin is underneath, the oilier I get. I never put lotion on my face before in fear of greasy face. However, since I've discovered Biotherm Source Therapie Superactiv, my skin have changed forever. And my outlook on skin care has changed as well.


I no longer fear to moisturize. This lotion/serum is all I need when my skin's acting up. I know it just wanted a little comfort and THIS is what I give to it. Since then I've tried many other serums/lotions as a night treatment. Some worked, but nothing lasted. And I always come back for it. I'm on my 3rd bottle already. For a girl who can't even finish a tube of cleanser, this says a lot!

Since it is the holidays, I suggest the girls out there to give this cute little package for your girlfriends. No matter what type of skin, this will work, I promise.

My boyfriend and dad have received numerous gifts from Biotherm Men's line from me. I love how fresh they are and how great they smell. I'd use the Aquapower on myself! (the green bottle).

They used to have a Biotherm kiosk at my local Macy's. But they left... only after a year... I was so lost. But thank god they have online shopping! Now you can just grab the Source Therapie Superactiv and get freeshipping too!

Now, their makeup line is another story. I don't like it and just don't work for me. Skincare is their speciality and I am sticking to their Star product. =)

me - finding shit stain on my pillow case b/c mr.H was punishing Daisy ON MY BED! she looses bowel control when she's scared. and we are talking about a 250lb man here.
me: what is this? what the F is this?
him: i don't know, brown spots?
me: it's Daisy's shit! wth! i told you to not to put her on my bed after you punish her!
him: ....... it doesn't look like her shit to me
me: no look! i'm serious! if this is not shit, then what is this?
him: shit smear *serious stare*
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~~~~ god help me!!!

This is the same man who told me he almost bought the Neiman Marcus Pink Quartz $2000 collection of makeup.

me: what r u getting me for christmas?
him: it's a surprise! it's amongst your favorites..
me: money?
him: no...
me: IT'S PINK!
him: uh hmmm....
............ after about 15 guesses..........
me: hehehee... it's not the $2000 Bobbi Brown make up is it?
him: all i'm saying is... you are not good at shutting off your computers *my blog was left on in the browser*

I was literally in tears. He, the man who pulls me away from Sephora in the mall and had to carry me on his shoulder to stop me from going into Nordstrom beauty dept., thought about buying me $2000 worth of make up!!!!

me: omg hunnie, let me show you the new Metal-X collection from MAC. I'm gonna get the dark green eye shadow, it's so hot!
him: why? you'll have the Bobbie Brown thing.
me *thinking* should I even go ahead to explain to him about the difference between textures and colors in eye shades? or even mention that they are different brands?
me: you really shouldn't get me that. It's too expensive, plus I can't use EVERYTHING in there.
him: well.. I already ordered it...
me: *eyes lite up* YOU DID??? oh I love you hunnie~~ Ok, you can return it, but before you do, I'm just gonna take a look to see what's inside, I won't open anything. *clinging onto his arm*
him: hahahaa.. No I'm just kidding, I didn't. I know if I did, you will open up that box and have me sit for 4 hours listening to you talking about every single little thing that's in there.

So do you kick him or kiss him?

I'm proud just at the fact that he even THOUGHT about buying me that collection. I really don't want it though, I mean.. it's just too much and too set up. I'd rather him give me $2000 to shop for make up on my own *I will leave this post open in my browser too, hehee*

Black Friday Victory

Black Friday is overrate and this year's deals all sucked - last year I picked up a 42" plasma for my parents. This year is just... blah... I went to the outlet in Boston, hoping to find some good deals. Never again will I sit in 2 hour traffic just to GET IN the parking lot and stay up from midnight to 9am. The pain.. yea, let's not even go there.

So here it is. My baby. Finally, save in my arms after 1 hour of waitting in line while the sun's beaming in my face. =) As long as I have you, everything's gonna be alright.

Winter Care

Yes, I'm still alive. Barely.

Work's been crazy lately. We all have a 11/30 deadline and every manager would push for their stuff to get done first. Obviously, I'm always getting caught in the middle. Then clients are all having a fit too, because they are in the middle of yearly closing and they can't be bothered. I tell ya, the attitude mean mugging in this company is insane! Who the hell greets their auditors with "what do you want?"... actually almost everyone. oh wells. that's all the rant I have for work.

Work - Street - Shopping. That's just a logic flow. You can't change it even if you tried. It's in our blood. So yea, I rape Sephora, Ulta and the countless wonderful beauty blogs when I'm taking a break from number crunching.

Let's see.... Sephora - $75, Ulta - $26, CCO - $200, Nordstrom- $20. All in 1 week. Christmas shopping hasn't even began I'm already broke. All I can say is, bonus better be good this year.

So with all of these stress and long hours at the office, my skin is just pissed off. So to mend our relationships, I pulled out my winter skin care reginme this weekend.

First, I got a whole body scrub/massage with Judy. This is our all time favorite spot, only because the treatment is effective and fairly on the cheaper side. $65 per hour. We strip to our birthday suit, sit in a steam room for 10 minutes, then get called to a huge shower room with massage tables. Korean old ladies in bathing suits will then proceed to pour warm water on our naked body, start scrubbing away in what looks like dish washing clothes (I'm sure it's to use on body, but it's the very course and scruby gloves). They DO NOT miss a spot. I mean they are so close to my private parts that I think they might slip a finger in there, lol. I mean, they are thorough, get to every spot, behind the ear and all.

We wash off all the grim balls (greasy/dead skin, yucks). Padded dry, then they lay us down again, this time to lube us in oil and whipped egg white. This is the time for a good ol' massage, but my lady's fingers were so strong and boney, it hurts me more than it pleases me.

I feel like I really don't like any part after that. The mini facial they do with minced cucumber and spread over our face, then wash our hair. And then put whipped egg white on my facial and gives me a super hard scrub/massage with her fingers. wtf? I felt like she wanted to poke holes in my face, No really, she wanted to bruise my face!

Ok. That's finally done and over with. 20% tips later (they'll chase us if we gave them less, cussing our asses out in korean, of course). I felt relieved and finally ready for winter!

So here is what I do everyday to keep up with the harsh drying winter air.

I don't like to feel greasy after a shower. I love the squeaky clean feeling. However, we all know that it's too drying for our skin. So this is what I do. I turn off the water to the shower, wrap my hair in a towel and lightly pad my body dry. Then I pour the Neutrogena Light Seasame Oil over my body, especially my elbows and feet. Then I lay on my favorite lotion in the world - J&J Baby Lotion. I don't care what anybody says, it's the best and that's that. then I wrap myself in the softest robe and sit down and watch The Hills.

I promise you won't feel greasy and your skin will be silky smooth. The smell of the oil isn't so bad, I actually like it. Give it a try~


The second best thing I do is for my nails. My cuticules are the first to tell me about dry air and how I wash them too often. Since I've been busy, I haven't had time to get a manicure and my nails are looking gross!

To get a polished natural nail look w/o the manicure, here is what I do. I step out of the shower and immediately (even before the lotion part), I use a cuticule pusher and push the cuticule back and trim it with cuticle cutter. Sometimes I'll file it, sometimes I won't. Then after I watch The Hills and before going to bed, I warm up Burt's Bee Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme in my thumb and smooth it over all the cuticles. Then I put on some heavy duty hand lotion and head to bed.

The second day, you will wake up with shiny nails and no hangnails!

Daisy and I are going up to Boston to visit daddy this weekend (her daddy , my hubby). Its his 32nd birthday. Looks like its going to be a weekend full of good food, catching up with friends and some shopping at the Outlet.

Beauty Review

I was going to post some before and after pictures of myself and what makeup I used to be obsessed with. But then my old laptop crashed... boohooo... which reminds me I need to get a new one. Maybe Black Friday would have some good sales on Sony Vaios, yippies!



So here is a little product review for Mally Beauty..



Here is what it says on QVC - Mally Beauty (I believe it is mostly sold on QVC, but I got mine at Henri Bendel on 5th ave.)

With a twist of the wrist, you can draw a perfect, up-angled line on the outer corner of your eye with Mally's Shaping Secret Eyelift Wand. Its matching, soft powder lets you smudge and fill the line to help give your eye a lifted appearance.Soft Brown is suited for brown eyes and dark brows. Soft Gray works well for those with light or blue eyes and lighter brows. Charcoal is designed to add boldness to any color eyes and black brows.Soft Brown, Soft Gray, or Charcoal.Made in Korea/China.


I got the Charcoal color because the other two were too light for my taste of e/l. I am very skeptical about this e/l, it was half way forced upon me and I felt like I needed to try something from her line, since it's mostly sold on QVC and I didnt want to pay for s/h. And another reason being, I think Mally bullshit a bit about makeup. She likes to turn makeup tricks into another product, making you believe that you can't do the same with the stuff you already owe.

For example, her Lash Illusion Lash Filler - it is a super skinny e/l. She bull shit her way making you thinking its a super mascara. Whatever, I learned that trick a long time ago from ViVi (Japanese magazine). Any e/l would do and I do it every single day. And her Brighten eye crap, it's a beige highlighter powder on a smudging tip, it says will brighten up your eyes. Well, you could apply any highlighting powder to the corner of your eye and make it pop. Its just that the smudging tip makes it easier to apply.


With that said, I felt like I am going to be so disoppinted in this e/l, I might as well return it. It sat in my makeup drawer for 2 months! Then I thought, ok, running out of e/l here... which one shall I break into next? There it is, in the little green box, sitting pretty in the drawer. Then I saw the $25 price tag on it. Im thinking, what the hell was I smoking when I spent $25 on a freaking e/l???? It better be good!


Lo' and behold, it completely surprised me! I always put e/l in the waterline below my upper eye lashes, so usually itd smudge by noon. But no!!! not with this little guy here. It stayed on all day!!! Even after I rubbed my eyes because I was starring at the monitor for too long. The powder side is just as good. The powder doesn't come off loose and fall on your cheeks. It really smudges the line and softens it. But the plastic tip part is a little long, so it wiggles a little, but if you hold it close to the smudge tip, you will get a great soft line by your lash line.


All in all, I am happy with Mally for now. Except the slanted design on the e/l part is a bit big for my application. But if you are a makeup newbie and struggles to draw a straight line, this might help. I love that it is automatic and easy to carry around. So now.. it has a permanate place in my bursting makeup bag.


Cutti gives it 4 out of 5 stars. A little fix up on the design can take care of the little problem I have with the long plastic tip.


I seriously need to start going to bed before 1:30am every night. God...
