The funny things you read in blogs
I like them because they are so real. I see a bit of myself in every blog I come across and think to myself "god, I feel like I just went through that!" Especially the ones in college or near high school graduation (not so much the latter, but I can remember a bit of the SAT horror stories). Koodle to those pushing through this competative world; it ain't easy out here, whatever that you hear about the working world is true.
HOWEVER, let me just say this w/o being too critical, if you think you know everything while still trying to tackle the SAT, then you are dead ass wrong. The little internships or "work experience" that YOU think you are getting is *excuse my language, I know I'm talking to minors here* BULL FUCKING SHIT.
There is nothing annoys the hell out of me than little bitches thinks they know every single fucking thing in the world because they spend their daddy's money on designer bags and clothes and worships Lauren Conrad with a shrine of all episodes of "The Hills". Just think of "My Sweet Sixteen" girls and their constant nagging of "daddddddddddyyyyy.... more money...... dddddaaaddddddddddyyyyyyy...... give me a car........ shut up mom, no one's talking to you... dadddddddyyyy... i want a Rolex..... dddddaaadddddyyyyyyy can you tell mom to shut up?"
I've met my shares of international students in my college, filthy rich Middle Eastern oil heirs who probably own half of the country, Japanese princes who's got limos dropping him off at school, and worse of all, turns out to be, my own kind, Chinese mainlanders. Mind you, I grew up with a fairly comfortable lifestyle, but the thing is, my parents are very humble and modest, therefore, i turned out alright, i.e. I did not have a brand new Benz as my very first car. I was like a normal kid and drove a Honda.
It just fucking annoys the shit out of me seeing these little kids 16 or 17 years old, spending $300 on a pair of shoes and talking about they earn their own money. Give me a fucking break and stop lying about your McDonald $5/hr pay. what did these kids come from? seriously. you know, you can't blame them, they came from a broken family and their daddy's fucking someone else in China now, while their mom have no jobs here and sole purpose of being here is for this good for nothing kid. yea, ya really can't blame those little fuckers being fucked up in the head.
They should just go sit in a corner, wipe their tears with pages of Vogue and call their daddy to send more money, so they can pack their bags and go back to China for a summer. So they can see their "friends" who grew up as fucked up as them, and praising each other over the whatever name brand shit they've got dripping over their bodies.
True story: Chinese mainlander international student, went to the same college as me, didin't go to work immediately after college, instead she spent 1 yr studying for the GMAT. In that one yr, she lived in an expensive neighborhood in Boston ($2500 per month rent), paid by daddy, GMAT classes paid by daddy, got a live-in boyfriend that daddy didn't know about, for one whole damn yr. And guess what? Still got 500's in GMAT, decided to fuck MBA, and go to work. Worked for 1 yr, lived in NYC, her salary wasn't bad, yet she still needed daddy to pay for her $3000 a month rent, and the salary she earned? Burberry, Chloe, Chanel, Anna Sui, every single fucking store in Soho knew her on a first name basis. After 1 yr, she decided working is too hard, too boring, not getting paid enough (her salary was in the 50's), quits her job. Goes back to Beijing and chills there for 4 months, got some kind of hook up from DADDDYYYY.. and went to Columbia for grad school. Her explanation? Daddy told her working is too hard, she shouldn't work. So daddy got some connection with the National Normal University or something that had a program being taught in Columbia, and she took the offer to go study, hmm.. in what you ask? urben city policy? WTF does that have to do her work experience? (she's an accountant). Needless to say, she's almost done with her "master's" now and she's wondering again if she'll ever be happy working or go back to Beijing and find someone to get married with. But oh wait no, she probably wants to stay here ,cuz of all the true religion jeans and YSL bags that's easily obtainable.
I'm still great friends with her. I don't think she knows how fucking annoying she is and she's blindsided by all the fucking $$$ she sees everyday. I'm cool with that, cus to me, I pity these kind of people. Who will never find passion in their lives and live an empty life filled with money. I even went to her Beijing house and chilled there for a day. She's got a personal driver, courtesy of Daddy, a cook, a maid, and a big ass house with no body in it. I met her parents and we had dinner, but I felt that she was so much closer to the maid and the driver. Her parents doesn't even know who she is.
all her parents did was, here, take the platinum card and buy what you want, go to Sanya for a week, relax there, take whoever you want, i won't be home for the next month cus I have business trips all over the place, but you can use the driver and the maid. i will tell my assistant to book you a ticket if you want to go. by the way, i kept your studio in NYC, i don't want you to go through the agony of finding another one once you go back (god knows when), so yea, you don't have to worry, ok? I love you.
fucking pathetic. well, ok, i can't bash her that bad, my parents gives me plantinum cards when i'm in china too, and yes they do buy me plane tickets to go places, and yes they do tell their assistant to go shopping with me, lol. but that's only in china. and plus their assistant is my cousin, so that doesn't count.
anyways, back to bashing - these people will never know what it is to have a dream and chase that dream, they will never know the joy of having a dime or the pain of losing it, cus daddy's got them covered. they think they live in vogue and can copy cat Devil Wears Prada, so fucking sad! But the thing is they will never know how pathetic they look.
Just like my parent's friend, who's living in the biggest freaking townhouse in ShenZhen and own the biggest real estate there, billionares, have everything in the world, gold plated everything in the house (which is really tacky by the way), and yet they are so unhappy. they tell my parents how thankful they are for helping them through hard times, yet they ask us how we can be comfortable in life, though we have so much and yet we can manage to keep it to ourselves. Why don't we get 3 Mercedes, we can afford it. Why don't they buy me a loft in NYC, cus my parents can afford it. They ask us these question and I think they are just being fucking ridiculous, WHY DO MY PARENTS HAVE TO GIVE ME ANYTHING??? I'M FUCKING 24 YEARS OLD, WORKING IN AN INVESTMENT BANK, EARNING MY OWN MONEY, WHY DO THEY NEED TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME?
Sometimes i think these people don't deserve to live, but then again, what a great comedy watching them living out a pathetic life. Life wouldn't be so fun to live if you can't watch them idiots living out a black comedy right?
aaahhhh... what a great afternoon pick-me-up. Thanks for reading. I might delete this once I get home, cus my hunnie will say I've pulled out my shot guns too many times. lol.

Beauty Review: Prescriptives Custom Blend Lip Gloss (Online Order)
I took advantage of the 30% off at Prescriptives.com and ordered a Custom Blend Lip Gloss. I've always wanted to try it since their custom blend foundation worked out so well for me (I didn't buy it b/c it was $60 and they won't even just give me a sample to try it, I mean, they mixed a whole damn jar, might as well give some to me and not waste it? bitches).
The formula I put in is as followed:
Base Color: Light Fuchsia
Finish: Luster (equal parts of pearl and pigment)
Flavor: Bellini
There are only 3 choices you can make online, the base, finish and flavor. Also you get to see a picture of what the outcome would look like.
The cap is a pull off and the tube is soft, so you can squeeze it. I like the applicator, it's big enough for my lips. You can twist the applicator off. I LOVE that it's a twist off, because I am so ready to mix my own lipgloss now. I've always wanted something like this, because some of my tube lipglosses are nice but I hate the applicator, and I've always wondered if I could just squeeze it out to a custom applicator that I like... Since I hate pot lipglosses (always get my finger dirty), I love love love tube lipglosses. Not the ones with wands, there is nothing you can do there - for example, my Kiehl's Lipgloss in Pink Rider is my absolutely favorite in terms of color and textur, but the damn applicator is so small, it takes 3 mins to spread the lipgloss on my lips evenly. hmmm... I see a lipgloss transfering in the near future..
The shimmer is gold, I think it's a little too big for my taste. If I had a choice, I wouldn't choose gold to be put int the fuchsia, so ordinary. The texture is like a very very very sheer lipgloss, reminds me of the ones you get in drug stores, Bonne Belle or something? I used to use those watermelon flavored ones when I was younger.
The Bellini flavor is ok. Not over powering, but at the same time, I wouldn't mind doing without it. It taste like peachy fruity flavor.
Once I wiped the lipgloss off, the gold shimmer was still there, everywhere! on my lips, my chin and around my mouth. I hate those lipglosses!!! It's not tacky enough, no sticking power and definitely won't be in my purse..... until I fix it somehow. I'm looking for a sticky clear or similar color gloss to mix with, so at least the lipgloss won't slide off.
My rating - 2.5 out of 5
It was fun and cool to make your own lipgloss, but I suggest you go to an actual counter, so you have more choices. For $20, this better be YOUR damn lipgloss that NO ONE can replicate. For now, I will just for the tube.

Beauty Review: Shiseido Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow
Went to a Korean store to pick up a Shiseido Eyelash Curler, cus my Shu one is getting old and started to pinch. But there is a promotion, if I bought 2 items I could get a cute little gift bag stuffed with samples. Argh! I hate it when they do that!
So I picked up the Hydro-Powder E/S in H2 since I've heard a lot of hype about them in the past. I'm not a big Shiseido makeup fan, cus I think it's for "foreigners" and "older woman", but their other sub-brands are awesome though! Maquilla or something that replaced PN is my favorite, but they can only be purchased in Asian or Europe, boohoo...
Anyways, I tried it out as a primer base, just like how I use the MAC paintpot in Bare Study. But I think it's a bit too shimmery and glittery for my taste. The texture is soft, smooth and easy to spread. It's just that big chuncks of shimmer, reminds me of back in the days how I used to sprinkle glitter and shimmer on my face b4 I head out to the club. A little more subtle would fit my taste more.
However, I won't totally diss it and keep it as a back up for when I wanna put more dramatic make up on. I think it'd be a great cheek bone highlighter too, cus the texture is so smooth. Overall, I think it's a great product for girls that loves shimmers. I got the pearly white one, maybe the colored ones are better in terms of shimmer?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going up to Boston on a last minute notice *ahem, H*, just for one day. I'm gonna take the train, which is a first for me. Should be fun - I brought my GMAT books and a Japanese magazine (Ray), so I can alternate between studying and magazine studying, lol.
Have a great weekend everyone!!! NYC is finally warming up!!! Yippie~

Drug Store Mega Haul
The Pssssttt dry shampoo is soooo coool! I want to use it everyday, but it's not necessary. It smells very refreshing, but not overpowering. The cool blast of air freshens your scalp, however, one time I think I sprayed it too close to my scalp and there was these white cast on my hair. I got so scared, I thought it was like a white paint that won't come off. But once you thoroughly brush your hair from root to end, the white cast will go away. It doesn't really POOOF my hair up and gives me a whole lot of volume, but I just feel cleaner. Definitely worth the money if you are like me, always running late in the morning, and hate dealing with flat and greasy hair.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This weekend my parents came back from China. So I went home and stayed there for 2 days, just to spend some time with them. There are a lot of drug stores around where my parents live, so I did my much needed drug store brand haul. I went in with the intention of buying some cold medicine since I've been sick for almost a week now and came out with these..
Left to right:
- Pssssssssssssst Instant Spray Shampoo
- Eye shadows: Milani Wet Dry Eye Shadow in #11 Beach Sand, L'Oreal HIP Concentrated Shadow Duo in Spirited and Sassy
- Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
- St. Ives Protective Cleanser SPF10 infused cleanser
- Ardell Brow and Lash Growth Accelerator
- Vichy Norma Derm Anti-Imperfection Care Night
I have been searching for a good dry shampoo for a while now. I don't wash my hair everyday and some times I could go on 3 days w/o washing my hair, I know, ewww... but my hair only looks good I blow dry it in the morning and knowing me, I over sleep everyday.
Usually designer brand dry shampoo cost around $20 at sephora and Pssssstttt is only $7. I sprayed on the root of my hair on the 3rd morning of not washing hair, I guess it did a good job at refreshing my scalp. It had a nice fresh scent and the feeling is basically like a aerasol spray of nothing, there was no stiffness, no crunchiness, just a nice blow of cold air.
The liquid leaked out when I brought the dry shampoo home, I guess you are not supposed to lay it down, otherwise it'd leak? well, it didn't stain anything, it's like those keyboard sprays, just felt cold and dry. not bad for $7 for a freasher hair on a late-to-work morning.
I've heard a lot of hype over the HIP eye shadow duos, they had a BOGO sale, so I napped Spirited and Sassy. To me, Spirited is not pigmented enough and the colorr came off rather sheer, not my cup of tea, consider the shimmer in it is minimum too. Sassy is a lot better in terms of pigmentation and theh color is nicer too, purple and green, i think i can work with that in everyday looks.
Miliani Wet and Dry Shadow in Beach Sand is something I've wanted to try since Vanessa mentioned on her blog. Then Muse compared it to the Vincent Longo's Wet and Dry shadow, which cost like $28 each. This one for $6 is good enough for me. Very VERY shimmery, I think I can only use it on clubbing nights, too much for day time look, but when used wet, it gives a nice foil as well. I tried layer a dry layer on top of the wet one and definintely gave me a more intensed color pay off. I likey for $6.
Vanessa has a way to get people lemming something like a Chafing Relief Gel, only she can do it, I tell ya. lol. I looked high and low for this one, not easy to find and definitely not easy being in the adult diaper and yeast infection cream aisle for longer than 15 seconds. I made a mental note to tell the cashier I was getting it for my grandma if she asks. Seriously though, who'd ask? Silly me.
Supposedly, this is comparable to the expensive silicone based primers, but the texture is much runnier. I tried it on and felt it sink into my skin quite quickly and gave that "smooth" Smash Box primer feeling, without the "my pores can't breath" feeling. It controled shine to a certain extend and didn't irritate my skin. Pretty good for $8. I think I can stick with it for a while, but it's just.. it's a Chafing Relief gel you know? I'm gonna need to think of some other packaging to store this. I'm a package whore i know.
For detailed review, check out Vanessa's blog.
Have you guys ever tried the Freeze 24/7 Ice Shield SPF infused cleanser? It's $42. INSANE! I got a sample of that stuff before I pulled out my wallet and thank god I did! The texture of the Ice Shield cleanser is like a thick thick cream that doesn't foam nor spread. Such a pain to use that to wash your face, especially when you feel even dirtier AFTER you've washed your face with that crap.
Don't worry my ladies, I've found a cheaper and better alternative for easy sun protection. St.Ives Element released a few new products, everything else is a yawn for me, scrubs, olive oil cleanser, whatever, not interested. However, the Protective Cleanser with SPF10 sounds interesting. It's priced at $7.50ish, but I got $2 off with my Duane Reade card, $6, not bad.
Unlike the Freeze 24/7 Ice Shield cleanser, this cleanser actually foams a bit and does a pretty good job at cleansing my face in the morning. I usually use Cetaphil in the morning, I don't want to get that tight overly dry feeling after I wash my face in the morning. Also, it's better to cut back on the cleansing in the morning to retain the moisteriouzer from last night, so you don't need to slather on more lotion and make your face oilier.
This cleanser have a texture that's similiar to a face lotion, however, if you add some water and work it in circular motion, it will foam a little bit, not so much as a gel cleanser though. It smells very light with a clean and fresh scent, I don't know what it is, but it definitely brings a smile on my face when I washed my face this morning. After you wash off the cleanser, the feeling is sort of like Cetaphil but a tad bit on the "squeeeky"side, however, my skin felt softer with this one.
Overall, I love this product and I hope my face will like it too by not getting irritated.
Last but not least is VICHY. Vichy is a brand originated in France and sold exclusively in pharmacies only. I first learned about this brand in China; they were sold in the big chain pharmacies in Beijing when I worked there. Vichy Thermal Spring Water is their star ingredient and is infused in all of their products. There are two other brands always being sold along with Vichy: Avene and La Roche-Posay, both are French brands and again, known for their thermal spring water.
I thought they were only sold in Europe and Asia but suprised to find it here in the States, however, I believe it's only sold thorugh CVS. They have a corner exclusively for "higher end" brand like this and Lumene? Supposedly there is a beauty consultant there during the day to give you advise. not a big fan of SA, so I was glad she wasn't there. I took some samples for myself and picked the Norma Derm Night Anti-Imperfection Lotion to add to my night regiment.
I don't do much to take care of my pores, expect for squeens the black heads out of my nose every other week, I know it's bad, but believe me, no nose strip in the world can do half as a good job as me. I personally believe pores cannot be closed, once it gets to that size, it will stay that size. It's your job to clean it and keep it clean of serbum and build up, which causes black heads.
This lotion promoised to shrink pores, keep it clean and will not allow serbum build up. I don't believe in any of that, but I liked the texture of the lotion. It's a little mattifying, which I think is unnecessary at night, but it's a pretty nice feeling. Also, I liked the scent. So fresh. Love it. Will update on how it actually keep my skin "clear".
I hope everyone had a nice Eastern weekend. Mine was good except that I was sick and couldn't do much. Also, Daisy had a fever and infection, so I had to take her to the vet. Sigh. Another $150 . I swear I need to buy pet insurance for her, so darn expensive to see a vet!

MAC Mineralized SPF 15 Foundation/Loose
Just got my Nordstrom March 2008 book. Thought I'd share the wealth. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. Well, it was supposed to release in Feb.2008, but postponed to April 2008. And Nordstrom release date is 1 week ahead of everyone.

The world of finance..
It's probably too complicated to explain the subprime crisis and how it triggered the credit crunch, but basically, the US market is weak because the rate of return on investments (ROI) are too low, so people stopped borrowing and investing. Now, to make people start investing, the Fed is dropping the rate, so that you would borrow on the cheaper side and start the economic circulation. Anyways, it's a long story of what happened and even I can't precisly explain it. The street (Wall Street) is doing bad and that means no body is getting off easy.
Lehman is the 4th largest bank on the street, mainly dealing with fixed income bond trading. The 5th one is called Bear Sterns, often compared to us because we are in the same line of business. Last week Friday, Bear announced that they are going to get emergency help from the Fed and investors started freaking out, withdrew $17Billion fund!!! in one day!!!! that's like sucking the entire firm dry!!! In one day, the 5th largest bond house in the US announced they are on the brink of bankruptcy. JPMorgan and the Fed offered to inject more fund into the firm and help them off of their feet. All was on the upside, until Monday morning, the news broke out that JPMorgan bought Bear for merely $2 per share (Bear was worth $160 per share at one point last year, and was still worth bout $70 before being sold for $2 a share). Can you imagine a billion dollar house being sold for $287million????
Rumors broke out on Monday following the Bear fire sale (means when firms are sold for way under value) that Lehman was going down too and we are going to be the next one up on the chopping block. You could feel it, in the office, it was dead slient, everyone's on Bloomberg following the news. Our Director came to our cubes and talked to us and calmed us down. She reassured that we are not going any where and that we have more than enough liquity to cover for any losses. However, our stock was plummeting, down 30% at one point.
Yesterday, our Q1 earnings were out. Above analyst expectation and Moody kept our triple A credit rating. 10AM was the conference call for the earning reporting, the CFO gave a very optimistic view of how our firm is performing. Although our year to year income dropped 54%, but that's common on the street with all the firms writing off billions in bad loans. Stock price rose back to what it was day ago. The market started to look much better after hearing that Lehman and Goldman's earnings are all above expectation, though net income were down 50% something for both firms. But in this kind of economy, this is considered good.
During the first quarter, Lehman cut 11,000 jobs. Our department is on the cost side (we don't make money for the firm, we get paid to perform a service for the firm), so obviously, they are going to let go some of the positions. 2 people were let go in my department, though they said it's a 5% cut rate across board, but I'm sure the FID and IBD departments are suffering more. One is a AVP and another is SVP, i know the SVP quite well and he's a very nice man. I wonder how he's doing now - he has a daughter still in high school, will he be able to pay for her college tuition? My coworker's dad, who's been with the firm for 20+ years was let go too. 20+ years!!! and he's gone just like that. I wonder how does it feel to come to work and planning on attending a meeting, and never making it...
At this point in my life, though I'm frustrated with my job and don't like what I do, I am grateful that I still have a job and can pay for my mortgage. It's cruel world. You never know what's going to happen tomorrow. Just keep your head on straight and do your best.
I haven't been studying for my GMAT. I seem to have lost a lot of motivation. I guess it's the uncertainty in my life and where I want to go next, that I'm lossing sight of what I really need to do. I'm not quite sure if I can be happy, even if I have an MBA.

I caved...$530 for a pair of sunglasses..
Sorry for the overwhelming camera whoring in this post, but you'd do the same too if your shades cost $530.
We went to the Garden State Plaza LV on Friday night once I've decided to get the sunglasses. Once we got there, the store manager informed me that only Manhattan has all the selections for glasses. WTH? I told him I called the store and specificlly asked for the Ursala Strass, they told me there are the dark honey and grey and black. After much fussing, he finally figured out what I was looking for. He said it was really new and already sold out in his store but he will locate one for me. Duh? I know River Square has it, that's where I tried it on. But they are the idiots that doesn't know the name of their products. Whatever, 15 min later we arrived at RiverSide, wehre they already put the last pair aside for me. Again, took them 20 mins to locate a case for it. they tried every case and finally decided on the biggest one. It fits, but is it really the case for the glasses? I don't know. Whatever. The point is I got what I wanted.
What I love the most about the sunglasses is the shape. It really compliments my face frame but still gives me that "jackie-o" feel. Usually my big ass pan cake face doesn't fit the stylish new shades; it will sit on my cheekbones instead of my nose. The Ursala is a little tight around my temple (big head sydrome), but I can easily get that bended in any glasses shop. Like I mentioned before, it is a little heavy for continuous use (i.e. while driving a long distance trip), but I am guessing it's polarized, so my eyes were comfortable, but it always takes me a while to get used to any sunglasses. I will see if I can get used to the heaviness. Maybe the little bend of the shape will make it sit on my nose more instead of my temples.
Sat. was a sunny beautiful day. We took Daisy to a dinner party at my friend's house and met up with another little puppy. Triple date and play date all in one.
So matrix-y.. te-hehehe..
How was your weekend?

I'm still alive
EDIT: so I went to LV last night and forced massive amount of LV bags on my shoulder. I just can't bring myself to buy another LV bag, I think I'm done with LV bags for now. But I tried on this pair of sunglasses just for fun and surprisingly it looks really good and fits my face nicely. It's hard to find nice sunglasses for asian face, cuz of our low nose bridge and wide face frame.
It's called Ursula Strass, 3 colors: dark honey, grey and black. Side logo with crystal. Acetate material and 100% UV protection, not sure if it's polarized. I like that it's Acetate instead of plastic and it's all hand-made. But can you justify $530 for a pair of shades? Yours truly had about 28 pairs of designer shades, none of them cheaper than $220 except for my last one, which is $98 (Marc by Marc Jacob). And I've lost every single one of them. One of my drawer is dedicated to empty sunglasses cases. Dior, Gucci, Ferragamo, Versace, you name it, I had it. Except for Chanel. That's why I wanted one, plus they aren't that bad, like $300-$400.
But I LOOSE MY SUNGLASSES TOO OFTEN! I lost 2 pairs in the past half a yr. If I lose a $530 shades, I seriously will kick myself in the head and jab myself in the face.
Also, doesn't it look a little tacky with the logo plastered on the side with crystals? I could go without logos now, but the shape of the glasses is so nice. It's a little heavy too. I think I will feel uncomfortable wearing for too long. I'll get a headache from the pressure the glasses put on my nose bridge. Maybe I should just keep this as a "work" glasses. And get some cheapo shit to wear when I'm doing activities.
Anyways, I'll let you guys know what I decide on. I think there is a 99% chance I get this one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for the MIA, I've been super busy at work, which my usual blogging time. So how's everyone doing this week? It flew by for me! Gosh, every since my friend and cousin visited me last Wed., I feel like I haven't had any time to sit down and catch my breathe.
As you know one of the update is that I'm going to Cancun, Mexico with 3 of my girlfriends in April. Dont worry, I'm ahead of my game and put in my bikini order from VS last night. =) Now all I can think about is Wax my winter forest and Mystic Tan. I have never tanned before, except for that one time, I used spray tan and it started leaking down my leg without me noticing. The second day, half of my foot was cover with brown stain. I looked like I had some skin condition. AND it was like 80 degrees out, and I can't wear flip flops, =( Bad experience. So this time I'm going to leave it up for the professional. Will do a review if I ever get to doing it.
You must be wondering why is this very unattractive LV wallet doing here. Well, my friend from HK, who's working for Goldman Sachs, apparently makes a lot of money. Her bonus last year was 150%, which according to her is very "normal". Yea, so you know, they could throw around $525 wallet as "greeting" gifts. I thought a bottle of wine was appropriate, but I guess, I"ll take a LV wallet.
I'm so not into LV, especially, Monograms now. I was actually saving up for my Chloe, YSL or Chanel, but now that I have to exchange this wallet, I feel like I HAVE TO get something from LV again. If I'm gonna get stuck with a LV, I'm not going to get stuck with an ugly LV. At the moment, I'm shopping around to see what I like. But it's like forcing myself to like something. Argh. We'll see. I love her to death, but her choice of wallet is just.. not up my alley.
Like I said, I've been busy. Meaning, not showering for days on end and scaly dry skin. Yes, it's still cold and windy in NYC. So you know my obsession with anything that saves time. I raved about L'Oocitane's Almond Shower Oil before. Well, I've found a BETTER AND CHEAPER alternative!
Johnson's Baby Oil Wash smells like a newborn's smile on a sunny morning. It's so angelic and heavenly. The texture if somewhat like a thick baby oil. But ones you smooth it on your skin, it will become slightly frothy, unlike the Almond Shower oil, which turns white like a Facial Cleasing Oil. Then when you wash it off, your skin feel sooo smoooth and soft. It's like your skin have just drank 8 cups of water! I love love love love it!!!! I don't need a ton of lotion afterwards and the scent definitely brings a smile to my face. I suspect it will be a wonderful shaving median too. But since I'm gonna wax soon, I don't want to shave my forest yet. hehehee....
I've been out of my lemming element for a long long time. The last beauty purchase I made was back in the begining of Feb. OMG, that's like 6 weeks ago! But after reading Lilan from The Daily Cookie review and swatch the new MAC Beauty Powder Blush, I want JOYOUS so bad! I have the NARS duo of Orgasm and Laguna, while it worked fine for me, gives me a sunkissed glow; Orgasm just.. doesn't really show up on me. Back then I didn't mind as much, but since I am on my endless journey to find the perfect blush that gives me the natural color, doesn't go on blotchy and have the right amount of shimmer to highlight my cheekbones, I am so getting Joyous today. It's the perfect "better" Orgasm. I'm going to take a look at the 169 too, tapered blush brush sounds interesting, maybe this is exactly what I need for that perfect contoured look.
H is here with me ALL WEEK. This is so rare, but I enjoy his presence. Not so much when he's falling asleep with the tv and the lights on, but I believe he's going to do better when he's fully moved in (right hunnie????)
Daddy and Mommy's coming back next Thursday. I can't wait to see them again. With all of these people visiting me, I haven't had the chance to study my GMAT for the past 2-3 weeks. I feel so guilty, because I'm still going to classes every Sunday, but I don't do the HW, and the class is like $1000. feel like I'm wasting my time and money away.
This sat. we are having a dinner party at Judy's house. Hannah bought a puppy and Daisy wants to meet her, lol. So we are going to do pot luck this time. Can't be lazy and do hot pot every single time, I'm so hot potted out. Sunday is GMAT. Argh...
So what's your plan for this weekend?

Long week ahead
Turns out, the little incident last week turned into a larger than life office crisis. Our pantry houses the coffee machine, vending machine and the copy machine, and the director's offices are cross the hall from it, therefore, the director's little assistants sits, literally, outside of the pantry and the men's bathroom. That's what we call the "high traffic" area. I guess little Mr Secretary got sick of hearing people being loud, he decided to go into the pantry and say the following things with a finger-snapping attitde "Hey guys, I know this is a pantry, but the noise here is really distracting." Swirled, turned around and returned to his desk.
I was amongst the 6 people in the pantry "making the noise". We turned around looking at each other like.. "who is he?" Anyways, we quiet down and all that, because we are better than that.
However, this morning, the issue of being noisy escalated to the director, filter through the SVP's and got down to the VPs. Of course, when you have a boss that can't stand people who doesn't know priest are celibate, you have to call an emergency meeting regarding this IMPORTANT issue.
Apparently, being loud = being unproductive, the SVPs and directors think we are having too much free time to chit chat, therefore, being an distraction to Mr.Secretary. In a room full of 8 people, the amount of responses to this issue is just ginormous. First of, WHO IS HE? how come he has so much power over us? Since when we can't TALK in the pantry and chat by the water cooler? Why doesn't he just move his desk? Why doesn't he just wear an ear phone.. bluh bluh bluh...
While listening to the annoying sound of 7 girls and 1 guy, I said something like "I tried smiling to him this morning, maybe he just need a friend? or a life? so he could stop being so angry?"
I got the annoyed look from everyone. Wow!! the response you get from being a nice person. Someone said "I will not stoop down to his level and smile at him. He's trying to bring down the entire audit department! who does he think he is?"
He's someone who has the power to bring down the 300+ people in the audit department.
Finally, the VP voiced the final reaction plan, we are going to fire back, how? By saying "SSssSsshhhhhhh" really loud every time we walk by his desk and make sarcastic remarks about being a "distraction"
hmmm.. that's an educated way of dealing with this. Never thought of that. Brilliant. Let's heat the shit up and stir it even more.
Who know? Maybe next week, we'll see Mr.Secretary crying to the director about how mean we are. Or!! maybe he'll hand in his resignation letter. Oh I can't wait to see the outcome.
Anyways, the point of this post is to show the world how pathetic office cultures can be. And, I have a long week ahead of me...
Wed - Tina's visiting me, she's in town for a business trip
Thur - Gotta pick up my cousin Carol from the airport. She staying with me until Sunday.
Sun - H's coming back down, hopefully his feet will be healed by then.
Mind you I did not study for my GMAT last week at all. And this week dosen't seem promoising either with all the entertainment I have to do for my guests.
Work's been crazy. My manager's pushing the envelope like no tomorrow. Funny what a promotion can do to someone! It's like the biggest ego injection EVER! Hmm.. I want some...
Last note, my skin's doing really good lately *knock on wood*. All I need is some powder to cover up the redness, no pimples, no dryness. =)

Losers
Is it right of me to feel like coworkers who hang out with each other more than once a week are LOSERS?
It's one thing when you are cool with somebody and chit chats are work and don't mind go out for lunch together sometimes. But it's another thing when you are like attached at the hip with each other. It's almost sickening to me.. AM I THE ONLY ONE? Is it disgusting when...
- GirlA brings lunch for Girl B every so often. Like, she cooked at home and made 2 portions of pasta and packed it up WITH BREAD on the side and parm cheese in a separate container and heated it up for her during lunch.
- Girl B goes to Girl A 's house on weekend and dyes her hair for her.
- Girl A and Girl B go on vacations together.
- Girl A and Girl B hang out on weekend (almost every weekend) and calls each other 11 o'clock at night.
- Girl B buys Girl A a drink and then the second day they go out to happy hour again, just so , Girl A can pay Girl B back in the form of another martini. Girl A and B argue over who owe who money on the night they went out. Obviously, too drunk to remember who paid the bill.
- Another conversation I heard - "Girl A, I owe you $40 for the dress you bought me while we were on vacation." "Girl B, don't worry about it. You paid for my cab ride last time, remember? We were at this bar and then this guy was like..... bluh bluh" "Girl A, oh yea, so that means we are even now then. I will bring you lunch next week, ok? It's going to be pork fried rices, I'll put the hot sauce on the side, in case you can't handle the heat."
awwww... ain't it so thoughtful????
Somedays when those two have a conversation, I swear I get a lesbo vibe, but I dismiss it because they are single and dating boys. It gives me chills and goose bumps seeing everything they'd do for each other. Mind you, they met at work, the same time I started. We literally all started working here with in a month. Girl A was cool with me for the longest time, but I couldn't handle her "me" talking and gave her the cold shoulder. Finally, she got the point and stopped calling me at 10 at night talking about boys.
I see myself as somewhat of an outcast at work. One thing is because I don't like going out to happy hours all that often. Listen, I've got a man whom I love very much and I've got a cute little doggie at home waitting for me. Happy Hour to me is for those single and mingling people, who has nothing to go home to, and they just want to gather around, get a little tipsy, before they need to head back to the emptiness of their apt. Clearly, I'm not in that group.
Secondly, I don't like hanging out with coworkers on weekend. It's hard enough that I spend 40 hours with you each week AND you want me to look at you on weekends? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND? work life balance, c'mon, it ain't balanced if I see your ass every day.
Thirdly, work palce friendship can get out of hand. People will talk and you never know who's listening. I will chat with you by the water cooler, but nothing beyond that. I've gotten into enough trouble by always being the "listener" and people tend to think by listening and not telling, you are an offender to work space gossip.
I don't know, maybe some people like to wash each other's panties and make tea for each other in the afternoon, but I'm certainly not one of those. I've got friends, thank you very much. I don't need to find friendship outlet at work. The handful of good friends whom let me into their world will enjoy my cooking and my attention, but not you, coworker/friend.
An office full of idiots and losers. Sigh...
